What is FUSE?
FUSE is The Department of Interactive Media's opportunity to showcase what we've been working on all year. With a mix of both digital and analog games, animations, and User experiences, we get to show off what Bradley IM students are capable of! Every year, we take over the Peoria Riverfront museum so that you can experience our projects on the show floor, watch our animations in the museum's state-of-the-art theater on the 52x70 ft. screen, and lean back in the planetarium to experience our dome animations created specifically for this unique format! We hope to be able to bring in eyes from the entire surrounding area to showcase the future of interactive media!
During our 2023 preparation, I filled the position of Lead Written Content Editor on the Production team. This means that anything written for the event or the preparation for the event (promotional materials, press releases, emails, etc.) was either written by me or came across my desk by way of my two subordinates whose schedules I was also in charge of.
An example of my content writing can be found below:
Bradley Interactive Media Students Bring Their Creativity to the Riverfront Museum
Peoria, IL – April 22, 2023 – The Peoria Riverfront Museum has once again partnered with Bradley University’s Department of Interactive Media to present FUSE, a dynamic and engaging showcase of Bradley’s interactive media students’ work. This year’s FUSE will take place Saturday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. FUSE is open to the public, free of charge.
The Department of Interactive Media at Bradley is internationally recognized. FUSE 2023 includes:
A Game Art Gallery — Walk through the museum's lobby to view a gallery of digital artwork created by Bradley game art majors. Featured artwork ranges from concept art to game-ready props, environments, and characters.
A Video Showcase — Watch a compendium reel featuring recent work from award-winning interactive media students. Immediately following the reel, watch “Animation in Motion” a highlight reel created by Bradley seniors for their capstone project, and the Interactive Video Experience “Out of Service” created by Bradley students from all majors of the Department of Interactive Media, as well as Television Arts.
Dome Animations — Watch special showings of animations made specifically for the museum’s Dome Planetarium. The animations were crafted by Bradley Animation students and designed to be extremely immersive experiences.
Games — Play and enjoy unique games, like the senior capstone project “Wicked Wizards” that have been conceptualized, designed, programmed, and produced by Bradley students.
Keynote Speakers — Listen to seniors from all majors in the Department of Interactive Media share their accomplishments and give advice about studying interactive media.
Laptop and Mobile Displays — Interact with the user-experience capstone work displayed on laptops and mobile devices. Together, these students have focused their energy on making a seamless experience for the user.
This one-day event is produced by Bradley students within the Department of Interactive Media’s five majors: Animation, Game Design, Interactive Media, User Interaction/User Experience, and Game Art. Additionally, students in Bradley’s master’s degree program will display their work. Representatives from Caterpillar, OSF Healthcare, SparkLearn, Undead Labs, and Volition will rate the projects and hand out awards to deserving students.
